Residency Special Features:   This specialty residency is a one-year program designed to develop a clinical practitioner with skills in emergency medicine, critical care, and toxicology. The resident will practice in our Level 1 trauma center with 340 adult beds. The emergency department has 92 beds, pharmacy services 24/7, and more than 80,000 visits per year. Experience will also be gained from rotations in MICU, SICU, toxicology, burn intensive care, neurotrauma, cardiology, and the psychiatric crisis center. The resident will be required to complete a research project and participate in nursing and pharmacy student education.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. degree, ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency or equivalent experience, eligibility for Michigan licensure.

Site Special Features:   This specialty residency is a 1-year program designed to develop a clinical practitioner with skills in emergency medicine, critical care and toxicology. The resident will practice at Detroit Receiving Hospital, which is a Level-I trauma center with 340 adult beds. The emergency department has approximately 100 beds with more than 80,000 visits per year and pharmaceutical services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Experience can also be gained from rotations in burn ICU, CCU, MICU, neurotrauma/neurosurgery ICU, pediatrics ICU, SICU and toxicology.

Residency Special Features:   Unique and exciting clerkship opportunities include rotations in Toxicology, Resuscitative Care, Pediatric and Geriatric Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Disaster Management, Bioterrorism Preparedness and Clinical Pharmacy Operations. Several opportunities exist for academic pursuit through affiliation with the Long Island University and Fiorello H. LaGuardia Community College. Publication in prestigious pharmacy and emergency medicine journals is highly promoted. Residents will present formal lectures, prepare a major project to be presented at ASHPís Midyear Clinical Meeting, and fulfill weekly short-call requirements in the Emergency Department. Residents also have the opportunity to pursue Emergency Medicine related certifications and attend monthly Toxicology Conferences at the New York City Poison Control Center and annual Emergency Medicine Conferences.

Site Special Features:   The Emergency Department of Maimonides Medical Center receives 90,000 visits annually, of which 30,000 patients are admitted. Maimonides is surrounded by the 2.5 million residents of Brooklyn and serves and incredibly varied patient population. More than 67 languages are spoken at Maimonides with representation of many different cultures. Residency Special Features:   This PGY2 residency offers specialty training in emergency medicine, trauma, toxicology and critical care. The resident receives an academic appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy. Scholarly activity, including clinical research, completion of 2 publications, didactic lectures, and a continuing education lecture is required. The resident will participate in the On-Call Program, serve as co-preceptors for students and PGY1 residents and participate in the Critical Care and Toxikon Consortium Conferences.
